Evan Patrick serves as the Natural Areas Manager for Bernheim Forest and Arboretum. He and his team manage over 16,000 acres of diverse habitats that include forest, prairies, glades, streams, and wetlands. His work centers on habitat and wildlife conservation, research facilitation, and environmental advocacy.
In recent years, beaver habitat restoration and conservation have become an increasingly significant part of Evan’s work. By employing a range of methods—from large-scale engineered stream restoration to low-technology, process-based techniques (LT-PBR)—the team at Bernheim has successfully enhanced and rewilded two miles of stream and 16 acres of wetland and beaver habitat.
Prior to his role at Bernheim, Evan managed the natural areas for both the Olmsted Parks Conservancy and the Parklands of Floyds Fork. He has over 12 years of experience in habitat stewardship.
Evan was raised in the Daniel Boone National Forest in eastern Kentucky and his commitment to conservation was cultivated there. In 2008, he earned a degree in Anthropology with a concentration in Environmental Science from the University of Louisville.
